Increasing your traffic using Twitter for your company
The 140 character whiz kid know as Twitter has carved itself a small media storm in the last few months with a media frenzy of stars using Twitter on their podcasts , and business strategists telling us we should use Twitter to new business leads , the exposure to Twitter is pretty high. You almost certainly have friends and work colleagues on Twitter and your suppliers may have invited you to their Twitter profile . That leas us to the big question . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?
A lot of people, actually I think most, don’t even “get” Twitter. And that’s partly because it can be many different things to almost as many people. And to some extent, they may even be all true, at least to that person.
Despite what you think of Twitter for yourself, there are opportunities you should deploy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. The least you’re likely to achieve is a handful of great relationships , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. Some people will just try to type your name on Twitter and see if you come up.
We have other articles on getting targeted traffic, but let’s look at something we can do today A right now We’ll take a more detailed look at building a targeted list but first let’s explore a quick and easy option.
A lot of people perceive Twitter traffic as an internal channel of Twitter itself . A concept most Twitter directories also foster. But with Twitter , the advantages of having your regular traffic join you on Twitter are many fold. So beneficial that we need to take action .
The easiest thing is to add a Twitter “badge” to your web presences . A Twitter badge is a graphic stating who you are on Twitter with an active link to your Twitter profile. In the videos I mentioned earlier , they reveal how , but the badge we can do now, with no excuses.
WHERE CAN I GET MY BADGE ?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge at zero cost from the following website ;
http://www.TwitterDominator.com/followme_badges.php - Custom Twitter Badge for free .
You paste the HTML in to your site.
It also works on Wordpress blogs. I’ve put them on all of my own blogs.
The Twitter badge is sealed in its own HTML DIV so should integrate perfectly almost anywhere.
If you create a table or div tag to position it in , then you can just paste the code in verbatim . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.
The benefits of promoting your Twitter profile from your regular web properties as I said are huge and yet it is something most Twitter users do not use. You will discover organic search benefits (SEO) of linking (it’s not reciprocal, see video) as well as “people” benefits. Wear your Twitter badge with joy.
